Protocol Pointers — Did you know?
- Place your napkin on your chair if you temporarily leave the table during the meal, but on the table to the left of your plate when you have completed the meal.
- Enter and exit a dining table chair from your left — the right side of the chair. If everyone enters and exit the same way, there are no collisions.
- Name tags should be worn on your right side. They are then in line for easy viewing when shaking hands.
- "Clinking" glasses when toasts are given is poor etiquette. Simply raise your glass in acknowledgement of the toast given. (How will you feel if you broke that antique glass you are holding?)
